Sabelt Sim Racing Chassis Buying Guide

If you are searching for a sim racing chassis, you have probably worked out that the frame is the one component nobody talks about and everybody regrets cheaping out on. This guide explains how the Sabelt range is structured, which cockpit suits which discipline, and what the Stage 1, 2 and 3 configurations actually contain.

We are an official Sabelt Sim Racing partner. We also coach drivers competing at factory and professional level, and our own sim team trains on this equipment weekly, so the recommendations below come from mileage rather than a spec sheet.

Why the chassis matters more than the wheelbase

Most people upgrade in the wrong order. They buy 25 Nm of direct drive, bolt it to a folding aluminium frame, and then wonder why the feedback feels vague. It feels vague because the frame is absorbing it. Force feedback is a conversation between the car and your hands, and every millimetre of chassis flex is a word you do not hear.

A rigid sim racing chassis does three things. It transmits every detail from the wheelbase without softening it. It holds your seating position identical from lap 1 to lap 200, which is the entire basis of muscle memory. And it survives 35 Nm of load without fatiguing at the joints.

Sabelt cockpits: what you are actually buying

Sabelt has built motorsport safety and seating equipment since 1972. Formula 1, WEC and WRC teams run their harnesses and seats. The sim racing chassis range uses the same engineering discipline and the Zero X aluminium profile, which is considerably heavier gauge than the extrusion most sim rigs are built from. That weight is the point.

Sabelt P99 EVO I: the formula chassis

A low slung single seater driving position with your legs elevated and your back reclined close to horizontal. If you race open wheel, this is what you want, and nothing else replicates it. Pair it with the SRP-1 formula seat.

Sabelt S99 EVO I: the GT chassis

A reclined GT driving position, which is the right answer for the majority of drivers. GT3, GTE, touring cars, prototypes and most road cars all sit within its adjustment range. Pair it with the SRS-1 GT seat.

Sabelt X99 EVO I: the rally and road chassis

An elevated, upright driving position for rally, drift, NASCAR and road cars. The most versatile platform in the range, and the one to pick if you drive a bit of everything. Pair it with the SRX-1 seat.

Sabelt SIM LITE: the compact option

A smaller footprint chassis that still accepts P, S and X Series components. The right choice when floor space is the constraint rather than budget.

Stage 1, 2 and 3 explained

Sabelt sells each cockpit in three bundles. The difference is simply how much of the rig comes in the box.

  • Stage 1. The chassis plus a pedal mount and your choice of wheel mount. Correct if you already own a wheelbase, pedals, seat and screens.
  • Stage 2. Everything in Stage 1 plus the matching Sabelt seat with brackets, and a chassis mounted single monitor mount. Add your wheel and pedals and drive.
  • Stage 3. The complete build. Chassis, seat, freestanding monitor stand with triple screen support, side mounts for shifter and handbrake, keyboard tray and mouse plate. Nothing left to buy.

Choosing your wheel mount

Every stage includes a wheel mount, and you choose which. The DD Front Mount suits direct drive wheelbases including Simucube. There are dedicated mounts for Asetek and Fanatec, and a universal Wheel Deck for base plate mounted units. If you are unsure, tell us your wheelbase and we will specify it for you.

Sabelt sim racing seats

The seat is half of your driving position. A shell that flexes under braking moves your reference points every lap and quietly destroys consistency.

  • SRP-1 formula seat, for the P Series
  • SRS-1 GT seat, for the S and X Series
  • SRX-1 road and rally seat, for the S and X Series
  • GT-PAD, SPINE, GT-AM and GT-X CHP, genuine competition motorsport shells adapted for sim use

What we would tell you if you rang us

Buy the chassis for the discipline you actually drive most, not the one you aspire to. Buy Stage 1 if you already own good peripherals, because paying twice for a seat you will replace is the most common mistake we see. And spend on pedals before you spend on torque, because braking is where lap time comes from.

If you want it decided for you, request a build quote and we will send a written proposal within 48 hours. Or look at our turnkey sim racing rigs, which arrive assembled, cabled and calibrated with a coaching session included.
